I had ST Jame's Red Velvet, 8 years ago at a friend's house. It was an unforgettable wine. Shipping costs were so high that I would not order it. When a free shipping day offer came, I jumped on it. While traveling through Missouri several years ago we stopped by Saint James Winery to sample their wines and fell in love with the Red Velvet. It is probably considered a dessert wine since it is sweet, and my wife who is not a wine drinker enjoys it with Italian food. Since we no longer travel long distances, we have Saint James ship it to our home, and we continue to savor our Red Velvet.

A friend from Missouri brought this wine down and I was hooked. Since then I have tried a variety of other wines from St. James. But Velvet Red is still by far my favorite. Because St James does not ship to MS, I have had my local liquor store on the hunt for similar tasting wines. He has found some that were good and somewhat similar, but can't compare to St. James' Velvet Red.

I live in Sonoma County, right next to Napa County and Napa Valley and both counties are very proud of all their wines (hundreds upon hundreds of vineyards, literally).
